product description

A practical plant guide written for Australian rabbit and guinea pig homes

Plant lists can make feeding feel simple until two sources disagree, a common name refers to several species, or the plant in front of you does not match the part shown online.

The Botanical Wellness & Foraging Handbook was created to make those decisions clearer. It brings food, forage, browse, grasses, hay, herbs, flowers and cultivated greens into one carefully bounded reference for rabbits and guinea pigs.

This is not a list that labels every natural plant as useful. Plants with an Avoid or Insufficient evidence outcome remain in the book with the reason they should not be offered routinely.

Australia first

The handbook uses Australian terminology, Southern Hemisphere seasons and Australian growing, weed and biosecurity context. It begins from the Mid North Coast of New South Wales while also accounting for tropical wet and dry cycles, temperate regions, inland conditions and local variation.

International readers may still find the plant profiles useful, but must check their own seasons, plant species, collection laws and local advice.

Carefully reviewed

The first edition has completed veterinary, Australian botanical and biosecurity review.

Every rating still applies only to the exact species, plant part and form described. The book is an educational decision aid, not a field identification tool and not a replacement for an experienced rabbit or guinea pig veterinarian.
